David & Majella Waterworth
About Us

During his 30 year career in education David has been involved with many aspects of Special Education and is able to share his expertise with schools and teachers. He has presented a great deal of Professional Development as well as mentoring hundreds of teachers personally and through digital means.

 

After several years working with students with Intellectual Impairment David became a Support Teacher Learning Difficulties in 1989. Since then he has worked in a variety of roles across a range of schools. He has been a guest lecturer at the University of Queensland in their Masters of Special Education program; auditor of schools under the National Safe Schools Program; an Advisory Visiting Teacher in Autistic Spectrum Disorder and a tutor in Functional Grammar. David is involved in state wide teacher training programs for Independent Schools Queensland. He is the author of "Reading Friends". He is an advocate of inclusive learning practice through universal design of instruction.

 

He is a past President of Learning Support Teachers Association of Queensland (Formerly RSTAQ).

 

He was recently nominated through the Joint Council of Queensland Teacher Associations for a National Award for Excellence in Teacher Leadership.

Majella was diagnosed as a dyslexic in 1974 and received some remedial assistance. She taught herself to read after leaving school and continues to learn. Majella has moved audiences with her story as an adult dyslexic survivor of  the schooling system. She touched our hearts.
